4 on the Floor

Happy Four Months Sawyer!

You are rolling over front to back and back to front now (although not consistently)
Your smiles melt my heart.
You have gotten really chatty and some days you babble the entire time you are awake.
Your favorite thing to do is stand up followed by put anything you can hold onto in your mouth.
You had your 4 month check up and you are 15 lbs and 25 inches!
We sometimes call you Donald Trump because your hair is so long on top and you've lost it everywhere else so it flops over like a toupee.
You've had your first cold and were the happiest sick baby I've ever seen!
You are still waking up a lot at night but you've started to nap more consistently.
You like watching your doggies but don't like them to come too close.
You still snuggle into my neck when you're extra tired at night.
You drink 5.5oz of milk when you get a bottle. That's 2 more ounces than the last time your Daddy gave you a bottle!

Work this Body

We haven't had an eventful week. After the craziness of last week, I am incredibly happy about that. Oscar was 10 weeks old yesterday. It's unbelievable how fast time is passing. One of the things I tried to focus on this pregnancy and maternity leave, differently than last time, is to make sure that I am focused on being healthy and not so much on weight and body shape. Ten weeks postpartum, I am only eight pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. However, my body is much softer and hips are much wider. I am still having trouble fitting into pre-pregnancy clothes. I decided to pick up my workouts in addition to the stepbet that I am already doing. However, those two things can sometimes be in conflict with each other. My body definitely needs the strength workouts, but I am not able to squeeze in a walk in addition to the workout, so in order to make my steps, I am having to get creative. This week I started a new Nike Training Club plan. NTC is a free app that I use to giv...

Let the Circle Be Unbroken

This is Megan.  15 years ago, in August of 1998, I started babysitting for her family. She was about 6 months old. A few weeks ago, Megan, now 15, along with her older sister Ashley, kept Sawyer (almost 6 months old) while I took a training class at UGA. It baffles me and warms my heart that this beautiful baby girl grew up to be a beautiful young woman who is now feeling the same thing about my baby boy that I did about her when I was 15. I feel as though I am a part of their family and the girls have been involved in every major event in my life. When Carey and I got engaged, their mom Lisa was the third person I called (after my mom and sister). We have celebrated weddings (mine), graduations ( me from high school and college, Kaitlyn from high school, and Ashley from high school), dance performances, count less game nights,  deaths, and new life. They drove up to see me when Sawyer was 2 weeks old and helped me navigate the early fuzzy days of motherhood. I am so t...

Fun, Fun, Fun

I apologize for the bad resolution of the pictures, but sometimes my phone is more handy than the camera. We've been working hard on tummy time and Sawyer's muscle control. He's been wiggling like crazy. Most days he only lasts 2-3 minutes on his belly but this particular day he was having a grand time. He's really holding his head up well! Airplane Baby
