Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

Sawyer has been doing so well with his head control lately. We got the bumbo out for the nanny to feed her baby in. I decided to try him in it. At first he was very confused and seemed to be supporting himself with his elbows. A few days later I added the tray and some toys and he went to town.

We think he is teething and so everything he can goes in his mouth. He still doesn't have much grasping ability but this particular toy (the Squish) was pretty easy for him to drag over.

  1. Such a big cute boy! Those bottom 2 pictures are the spitting image of you as a baby! They could be dated 1983! :-)

All (S)He Wants to Do is Dance

Sawyer has shown an interest in music and dancing and gets really excited when one or the other is happening. Our friend Derrell (after whom Sawyer is named) was over the other night and they were dancing on the changing table. I only caught the tail end on video but the way he's laughing at the beginning of the video was the way he was squealing for a good 5 minutes. It was so cute to watch.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

SNOW DAY! We had a cold snowy day two weeks ago. It was cold and rainy with flurries intermixed all day long. We snuggled on the couch and watched movies and I studied for a midterm but by late afternoon the snow was coming down a lot! We got an inch or so in less than 30 minutes. By the time we got our act together it was too dark for outside pictures but as soon as everyone was up Sunday morning we got dressed and went outside to document Sawyer's first snow day. This bear outfit was a hand-me-down from our friends the W's. Their son was born in June so he never wore it. Sawyer looked precious bundled up in it for our pictures.  He didn't much like being outside. It was COLD and BRIGHT! Hopefully that trend won't continue. We want him to love the outdoors as much as we do!

Let the Circle Be Unbroken

This is Megan.  15 years ago, in August of 1998, I started babysitting for her family. She was about 6 months old. A few weeks ago, Megan, now 15, along with her older sister Ashley, kept Sawyer (almost 6 months old) while I took a training class at UGA. It baffles me and warms my heart that this beautiful baby girl grew up to be a beautiful young woman who is now feeling the same thing about my baby boy that I did about her when I was 15. I feel as though I am a part of their family and the girls have been involved in every major event in my life. When Carey and I got engaged, their mom Lisa was the third person I called (after my mom and sister). We have celebrated weddings (mine), graduations ( me from high school and college, Kaitlyn from high school, and Ashley from high school), dance performances, count less game nights,  deaths, and new life. They drove up to see me when Sawyer was 2 weeks old and helped me navigate the early fuzzy days of motherhood. I am so t...
